Summer at Dash Point State Park in Washington means one thing, Skimboarding. Many of the best flatland skimboarders ran, dropped, and slid for their first time here including many of the DB skim team. Dash Point is twenty minutes south of Sea-Tac Intl. airport and just a few miles north of Tacoma. It is a sandy beach on the Puget Sound with a stream that flows from a near by wooded area. These ingredients combine to make ideal conditions for skimboarding and provide ample space for spectator viewing. Because of the immense popularity of the sport at this beach DB hosts a competition annually here.
This event kicks off the skimboarding season in the area and is a big attraction for the local community and skimboarders from all over Washington. Many skimmers travel from Utah, California, and British Columbia to compete in one of the longest running competitions of the sport. This being the seventh year we expect around 75 competitors and hundreds of spectators. This event is known for showcasing top shelf talent as well as hungry up and comers of flatland skimboarding competing on fresh obstacles.
The DB Skimboards organizes and executes this annual event but it depends heavily on the support of the local community and sponsors that provide additional funding.
